How do Norwegian board fees compare, when competing for the best board talent in an increasingly complex business setting characterized by digitalization, ESG and new geopolitical challenges?
“The board assignment becomes increasingly complicated, but it is not reflected in the board’s compensation” – says Evelina to Kapital.
Novare Pay Consulting’s data for Norwegian listed companies (OBX25) shows that it would require as many as 16 board engagements to equate to a CEO base pay in 2022. Further, in comparison to Sweden, the average compensation of a chairperson in a Norwegian listed company only corresponds to one third of the compensation of a chairperson in a Swedish listed company.
“It is a challenge for many companies to attract senior expertise to the board room, especially if you are competing for international competence which many large Norwegian companies do” – says Evelina to Kapital.
